Hello Patriot Volleyball Players and Parents.
A message from Coach Stouffer. We are gearing up for another indoor season - the 2024 fall season. To kick things off, we are hosting our summer camp on July 22-26, 2024, from 3-6 each day at the First Baptist Church on McClintock. The address is 4545 S McClintock, Tempe. I’m very excited about camp this year, and equally excited about the upcoming season. We had a great season in 2023, and I firmly believe this year’s teams (Varsity and JV) have the potential to be some of the best that JMPS has had in quite a few years. No pressure. Many of our returning players played beach this past spring (and some now for 2 years) and gained valuable ball handling reps and game acumen. For camp, please have water and knee pads (knee pads are required). If you don’t have knee pads there will be parts of camp you won’t be allowed to participate in. Players, make sure you eat breakfast and lunch and drink lots of water each day. You need your energy and need to be well hydrated for this camp. We’ll be doing a lot of drills and playing which requires stamina. Having sufficient food and water is the most basic and important part of stamina. I can’t stress enough how important this is. Since I’ve been involved in the JMPS volleyball program, every year we have had players who have to sit out in camp and practices during the season because they haven’t eaten during the day or kept themselves hydrated - don’t let this be you! (Hint, if you are new to playing volleyball, or you have been playing a bit and want to accelerate your development, the beach season in the spring is a great way to do that - plus its fun. Another great way to develop your skills is to play club volleyball which starts immediately after the indoor season ends in November. Parents and players, if you have any questions about either of these opportunities please reach out to Coach Stouffer during the upcoming fall season.) We are still working on the match and practice schedules for Varsity and JV. Stay tuned for further details. See you all at camp! Have a good rest of your summer. Players - start or keep doing lunges, squats, ab work, and stretching. Also, get a volleyball and hand set and bump set to yourself everyday. You want to be a starting player, you gotta put in the reps. Respectfully, Dale Stouffer |
